Sep 4 Running back Ladell Betts ran well in his first appearance of the preseason. Betts was expected to be the backup to starter Clinton Portis, but that status was up in the air when he missed all three previous games with a strained hamstring. He returned to the field and rushed for 27 yards on nine carries on Friday. He also had two touchdowns. "Having him healthy certainly helps back there. I think he's a good athlete," coach Joe Gibbs told the Washington Post.
Views: Betts solidified his status as Portis' backup with his performance. If you grab Portis in your draft or auction, it would be a good idea to handcuff him to Betts later on. If Gibbs runs Portis as often as he says he will this season, there is a chance he could wear down or get injured, meaning Betts would become a valuable commodity.

FYI Ladell Betts and Brandon Lloyd of the 49ers both went to the same high school. I graduated a year before Ladell and watched both of them in the greatest football game i have ever seen. Except Brandon was a SKINNY sophmore quarterback that led Blue Springs back from a 44 point deficit.
I am quite proud that i have consumed alcohol with 2 NFL players in high school.
