Jackson signs deal

Postby VIPER » Fri Apr 25, 2003 4:53 pm

KIRKLAND, Wash. (April 25, 2003) -- The Seattle Seahawks got one of their key players under contract for next season when wide receiver Darrell Jackson signed a one-year contract.

Jackson, a restricted free agent who had interest from other teams, is entering his fourth year with the Seahawks. He was the team's second-leading receiver last season with 62 receptions for 877 yards and four touchdowns.

He had 70 receptions in 2001 and in three NFL seasons has 185 catches for 2,671 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The one-year contract means Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent after next season.

Good news for the Seahawks.

They dicked around for a long time before doing this deal. DJ said he wanted to stay and play for them, but still took them ages to sign him.

Maybe they based their decision making process on his MISERABLE performance last year, in which case I understand.

Dont draft him early is all I can say. You want DJ as a 3rd place WR.

Good to see him signed. I really think he will have a pretty decent year, and can be considered in the top 24 WRs, thus a 2nd WR on your team in many leagues. If he was my third WR, I'd feel pretty good!!!

This is great for the Hawks, watch out NFC west now only if they can sign Jones and have that entire high powered offense return thet will be all good there. Now the defense?????
