Thursday September 9, 2004

Welcome to KFFL.com's Injury Round Up. Each week, we keep you up to speed on all the latest injury news from around the NFL. Whether it's a minor injury to a third-string lineman or a season altering catastrophe we're on top of it. Which players may be sitting out of this weekend's key games? Which ones are ready to step back between the white lines?

QUARTERBACKS
New Orleans Saints QB Aaron Brooks (quadriceps) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 8 and is expected to be 100 percent for the team's season opener this Sunday, Sept. 12, against the Seattle Seahawks.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich (thumb) is continuing to practice despite a bruised thumb. Leftwich is officially listed as probable and is expected to play this Sunday, Sept. 12, but his accuracy could be an issue.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) is being listed as probable for the Thursday, Sept. 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He is not expected to miss any time due to the injury.

RUNNING BACKS
Buffalo Bills RB Travis Henry (ribs) has resumed practicing after sitting out the team's final two preseason games with sore ribs. Henry is expected to start this Sunday, Sept. 12, and is officially listed as probable. KFFL has learned that he's as close to 100 percent as possible.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (foot) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 8 and is listed as probable for the season opener. Taylor missed the team's final two preseason games with a strained foot.

Minnesota Vikings RB Michael Bennett (knee) has been officially ruled out for Week 1 with a sprained MCL in his right knee. It has been reported that Bennett may not be able to return until after the team's Bye week, which would make his first game action October 10.

Green Bay Packers RB Ahman Green (knee) practiced full-speed Wednesday, Sept. 8 and looked fine. He is expected to start Monday, Sept. 13, against the Carolina Panthers.

Cleveland Browns RB Lee Suggs (neck) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 8, and is unlikely to play due to a neck stinger. If Suggs is unable to go RB William Green would get the nod.

San Francisco 49ers RB Kevan Barlow (hip) did not play in team's final preseason game because of a hip pointer. The injury is not considered serious though and he is expected to start this Sunday, Sept. 12.

The Rest of the Field...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charlie Garner (groin) missed the team's last preseason game with a groin injury, but he is expected to be fine for Week 1... Dallas Cowboys RB Julius Jones (ribs) returned to practice Tuesday, Sept. 7, after suffering a rib injury during a preseason game with the Tennessee Titans... Cincinnati Bengals RB Chris Perry (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 8... Chicago Bears RB Anthony Thomas (oblique) was able to practice Wednesday, Sept. 8, but is officially listed as questionable for this weekend... RB Kevin Faulk (personal) is not expected to play Thursday, Sept. 9, due to personal issues.

WIDE RECEIVERS
St. Louis Rams WR Torry Holt (back) participated in limited work during practice Wednesday, Sept. 8, after missing the team's final preseason contest due to back spasms. Holt is listed as questionable for the season opener.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens (abdomen) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 8, and is listed as probable for Week 1.

Arizona Cardinals WRs Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) and Bryant Johnson (foot) both continue to practice and are expected to play in Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Johnnie Morton (Achilles') practiced Wednesday, Sept. 8, after missing the entire preseason due to soreness in his Achilles' tendon. Morton is now expected to play Sunday, Sept. 12 but not expected to start.

The Rest of the Field...
Tennessee Titans WR Tyrone Calico (knees) is out for Saturday, Sept. 11, after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on both knees... The Rest of the Field...
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Kyle Brady (finger) is likely to miss a month or more after undergoing surgery on a torn tendon in his finger... Chicago Bears TE Desmond Clark (hamstring) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 8, and is listed as probable for Week 1...
