Jacksonville Defense Really as good as numbers say?

Postby RaiderFan12 » Sat Sep 11, 2004 9:47 am

Pre-Season stats show only 29 points scored against Jacksonville along with 7 picks. Just wondering if it was just a pre-season fluke or if there defense is really playing that good? :-?

They were actually an elite D over the second half of the season last yr, so for them to be playing well now, it shouldnt be a suprise.

The problem that worries me about JAX right now is that their 1st string offense failed to get a touchdown this summer.

Nobody can run on Jacksonville, look it up last year. All the same, they have no pass rush and weak corners (except for Rashean Mathis), they're a sleeper playoff pick, but I think that next year or the year after next is a more reasonable guess.

I would say they are about a year away from the playoffs. The run D is strong, but I didn't agree with letting Hugh Douglas go.

Who are the end? They have to play Tenn and Indy twice and texas whom is much better as well I think they might not do as well as a lot of people think this year because the secondary is week and the schedule the AFC South is tough but we will see tomorrow I think Buffalo will beat them.

I disagree. They were 2 old men who were hitting them hard capwise and weren't doing much for them. Jags should be good again this year. The middle is still solid with Henderson and Stroud.

I think that they are so underrated that they've become overrated. I saw this in another thread a while back, about a wr methinks...anyway i wanted to say that if you pick them earlier than you normally pick your average defense, you're gonna be disappointed :*) They don't have anything astonishing about their defense that sticks out in my mind, besides stopping the inside run, and they lost bryant douglaus and brakens from their defense, with the latter 2 being more mentors and locker room leaders, with a respected presense...mayb I'm wrong but thats MO. No earlier than last 2 rounds or waiver/fa for me...

Totally agree with Creamdoor, you shouldn't of picked them up with the Seattle/Miami type defenses but if you got them in the last couple rounds its a good value pick, and you'll be getting a defense that you shouldn't of been able to in the last 2 rounds IMO

Do you think their defense is a better option than Carolina's at all?
