they were thinking about releasing Hearst to clear up 2 mil on their cap...

looks like the cheaper route would be play Hearst into the ground this year so that Barlow doesn't get big numbers and demand 5 mil plus a year for the next few years

you couldn't be more right!.....after this season he will be gone, but they will run him into the ground this year and give barlow a little more work then last year...basicly to prep him for 2004 and the starting roll...

BTW...nice post ziggy piggy!

From the Sacramento Bee:

Owens' contract issue
Once deep in receivers, the 49ers also could be considering that position in the draft.
Jerry Rice is long gone, J.J. Stokes has received permission to seek a trade, Tai Streets is a restricted free agent and the subject of trade offers, and All-Pro Terrell Owens can void his contract after the 2003 season if San Francisco doesn't make him an offer he can't refuse.

Sounds like he can void his contract probably based on performance incentives he reached.

Nice post Piggly Wiggly

another helpful tool for guys on the fringe.

I think though guy try as hard as they can every year because really in the unpredictable NFL every year is a contract year if you are in the middle of a big contract and you dont preform up to expectations you could be looking for a new address come March. GMs in the NFL are not hesitant to cut anyone that is not pulling his weight
