Defensive Scoring System

Need opinions to help build my case. My league gives DST points like this.Please make suggestions or tell me how your league handles it. Im trying to create a rule change that would adjust the scoring to EXCLUDE Yards Allowed as a scoring category.Each week the Defense starts with 10 points allowed/10 yards allowed and adds on or subtracts from there. Defensive scoring is unusually high in my league.

Scoring for Defensive Categories
DFR - Defensive/ST Fumble Recovered (ID/DT/DST) 2 points
DTD - Total Defensive and Special Teams TD 6 points
Int - Interceptions 2 points
PA - Points Against, Total Points Scored 0 - 0 PAs = 10 points
2 - 6 PA = 8 points
7 - 13 PA = 6 points
14 - 20 PA = 4 points
21 - 27 PA = 2 points
28 - 34 PA = 0 points
35+ PAs = -2 points

SACK - Sack 2 points
STY - Safety 2 points
YDS - Yards Allowed 0 - 49 YDSs = 12 points

50 - 99 YDSs = 10 points
100 - 149 YDSs = 8 points
150 - 199 YDSs = 6 points
200 - 249 YDSs = 4 points
250 - 299 YDSs = 2 points
300 - 349 YDSs = 0 points
350+ YDSs = -2 points

I need more debatable perspectives or simply puts good reasons to eliminate this scoring category.

1. Defensive scoring EXTREMELY affects the outcome of games
2. scoring ranges from 0-36( highest i have seen), kinda high yeah?
3. I need more!!!

Get a good defense.

All my leagues (CBS, Yahoo, etc) use yards allowed as determining DST scoring.

The points don't vary as much as you point. Almost never is a team held under 150 yards.
