Steve Smith's replacement?

Postby mad benjamin » Tue Sep 14, 2004 2:25 am

I didn't see the game last night, but saw this morning that Smith is out with a broken leg. Does anyone know who his replacement would be? Who stepped in for him after he went down?

Mushin Muhammad would probably warrant a look. Maybe Kerry Colbert could step up...

Don't forget Ol' Ricky Proehl. He had a few grabs last night. He always seems to find an opening somewhere, and he dang near always catches the ball.

also note that Delhomme spread the ball to 10 different receivers last night. More than Favre.

I thought Muhammad was looking involved in the game even before the Smith injury. He'll be on the Most Added list this week.

Can Mushin Muhammed be a legitimate #1 WR though? He's 31, had been plagued by the injury bug, and historically doesn't catch many touchdowns.

No, not a legitimate #1. I don't think there are any guys readily available who are of the caliber of Smith, but Muhammad is probably now a #3 who I would consider starting. He was just waiver fodder before last night.

Keary Colbert - WR - Panthers Rookie wideout Keary Colbert is expected to make his first NFL start on Sunday.
Colbert wasn't active on Monday night, but he was one of the best receivers in the league during the preseason. We've pumped the USC all-time leading receiver up since draft day because of his toughness and ball skills. He's worth grabbing in nearly all leagues.
