League Advice Needed...Please

Postby BrutallyHuge » Tue Sep 14, 2004 1:27 pm

My first year as commissioner, but last year was my first in the league. Well, passing TDs were 4pts up until last year (so I hear). Last year they were 6 points due to some oversight.

A lot of the people in the league didn't even know that passing TDs were changed. One said that he had no idea that they are 6pts this year either and that would've changed his draft strategy. Now 3 people in the league asked me to change it back this year (after the first game). We're a TD-heavy league, so Daunte put up close to 50 points this week (and the team finished with around 110).

I put it up to a league vote, 3 people voted for it, and now one says, "Rules should stay the same as in past years since drafting was based on this scoring system." I agree with him, but I was elected commish the night of the draft and could not control any of this.

Any help would be appreciated.

tough situation. This is one reason I dont commish - who needs the hassel?

anyway - there is almost no chance I would change the scoring after the draft. Its simply not done. Case closed.

I've never commished before, but unless it's unanimous, I don't think you should ever change the scoring after (or even right before) the draft. No question here...people have to know their league's scoring.

How was the rule changed communicated?

If it was posted and always available, plus given notice via email, or however, then the owners are liable for keeping up to date.

Anything less than that..and you're going to have a handful.

seriously...who does not look up the scoring or ask about it before the draft. Tell them to quit whining.

just leave the scoring the way it is... especially since those complaining arent a majority.

Since you didn't change the scoring from last year to this year, it really is their own faults for not knowing or asking what the leauge rules are going to be. We usually have a sit down rules session prior to drafting every year that way there is no confusion. Whether they like it or not, I wouldn't change the league settings after one week.

I would never change a rule after season started. If they missed the change tough. Plus if all QBs get 6 for a TD how is that an advantage? Week 1 was strange with certain people like Culpepper having monster weeks..that has nothing to do with the rules.

Well same scoring or not the same scoring They all should've looked over the scoring before the draft. I'd keep it, and tell them tough luck.
