Fable -> eh?

If you're a hard core Star Wars fan, then I understand. But Fable and Morrowind just blow KOTOR out of the water with the different choices (Fable much less than Morrowind, from my undestanding).

No, not a hard core Star Wars fan. It was just pretty fun gameplay. I tried playing Morrowind a couple times after I got it, and found myself so inpatient with it that I stopped playing. It has a lot of choices, but the gameplay just isnt fun...

Is Fable worth 50 bucks? Or should I wait for the price drop?

Try and get a copy used for ~$30.

I finished Fable (including opening every silver chest, demon door, and getting EVERY legendary weapon.. including the bow and xbow granted by the evil and good churches, respectively) in just over 28 hours.

The second time through the game, I finished in 22.

It's an amazing game, and I don't regret the $50, but it's just too short to leave me feeling completely satisified. In my RPG ratings, it's deffinately in the top 5 simply for gameplay, character reactions (what's better than finally getting the "Vulgar Pelvic Thrust" gesture and using it repeatedly at everyone you see, or handing random people beer until they pass out?), and graphics.

1) Morrowind. (The king of RPGs, assuming you can manage to get past the completely open ended gameplay)
2) Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (HUGE game. I'm about 60 hours into it now, and I'm just over halfway through. Throw in amazing graphics and a genuinely creepy story and you have a classic!)
3&4) KoTOR / Fable (roughly even in my book)
5&6&7) Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy 2 / Disgaea

Seriously though.. if any of you are into anime'ish or creepy occult style RPGs, check out Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. One of my favorite games of all time, and I've only been playing it for a week and a half or so.

Two questions...

1) Where in God's green earth could I possibly get Fable for 30 bucks? I live on campus with no car... so my options are limited. But help would be... helpful.

2) Is there an open-ended gameplay option for Fable, or at least massive replay value? I've heard that there is so much stuff to do, that you can spend a lot longer than just doing all the quests and such. Is it possible just to stay in a town for a while and experiment with all the crazy stuff that can be done? That is definitely the drawing aspect for me...

I don't know what it is about me and Morrowind. I always hear about how great it is... and with all the options, it does sound cool to customize and such. But I thought it was just way to much comprehension, not enough core gameplay. I barely made it outside the village you land on when I got fed up with the game.

I did almost everything the first time around in Fable. The only thing I had even slight trouble with was finding two of the silver keys and finishing the treasure map quest.

I've played through Fable twice, and I can't see myself playing through it again unless the rumoured "Fable 1.5" update ends up being legitimate.

Check EBGames.com, GameFly.com, Ebay, and Amazon.com - I've purchased used games through all four of them and have never been dissapointed. I highly recommended GameFly. They have a large stock including some very rare games, and guarantee working copies (including pristine copies of the original case and book - a huge plus imo when buying used games)

Morrowind is the king of CRPG's. I haven't played it much, but any RPG fan should enjoy it.

The 'Cuna doesn't have much to add, as Manja has pretty much covered everything...

...but yeah, I'd definitely buy it used or wait for a price drop. It's a fun game, but its ease and shortness leaves a 'lil to be desired - especially if you're paying full price.

Edited to correct grammatical error.

In escort missions, make sure you remember to use liberal use of the "Wait" command. :-)

I DO, but those morons never listen.

"What, you're going to fight the undead villagers in the Dark Woods? Here, let me tag along..."

"No! Wait!"

"Come along, you say? Ahh, splended, it will be a grand stroll.. hey, you smarmy bloke! Hands of my knickers! I said get off you scallyw... ARGH!!"

"Well... there goes my boast."
