Branch a decent #2 WR?

Postby Hot Carl » Fri Sep 17, 2004 3:22 pm

I know Brady spreads the ball around a lot but seems he favors Branch. Will he b e a decent #2 WR this year in a 10-team league? Please opine...

I think he's an adequate #2 WR.

I think he makes a sub-par #3 WR in a 12 team league.

#2 WR in a 10 team league??? No way.

Good spot-starter but I wouldn't play him every week. As long as Troy Brown is out of the picture, NE's 4-headed beast isn't too much different than Seattle's Jackson/Robinson/Engram. Won't get much argument that DJackson is a solid #2WR. Once Troy comes back, it spreads out yards even more, but Branch still should get his share of red zone looks. I'd definitely play Branch in the desert this week.

So Bagel you think he isn't even in the top 36 WRs... :-o I cant see that with the pass-first game plans in NE

I said a sub par #3, which would put him down towards 30-36, not outside of 36.

And what does NE's pass first offense have to do with anything? You mean the exact same pass first offense that they had last year when none of their WR's cracked the top 35?

I've seen him cracking the Top 15 in some rankings for the remainder of the season...I dont really have a bias here (dont even own him) just looking for some opinions. I would guess he is a top 20 WR at season's end...possibly top 15! Only time will tell.

I would consider him nothing more than a #3 fanatasy WR option - certainly not #2. I also am not about to anoint him as the #1 WR in NE. First of all - Graham had more passes thrown to him than Branch did. Second, Givens is the real deal and should emerge to take even more looks as the season wears on. There is simply too many recieving options in NE to count on one starting for you every week.

He's a #3. Pass-first offense is cancelled out by the fact that Brady sprays the ball all over the field.
