faulk not used in endzone??

Why may i ask did the rams use faulk all the way up the field and then,without cause give the ball to the rookie jackson at the end zone?Then after he failed , and gave it to him again and not to faulk who has proven he knows how to score ,and has proved he knows how to get it in??? please ,can someone explain that to me??
