Is Roy Williams ready to produce already?

Postby hakeem34 » Fri Sep 17, 2004 9:53 pm

For some reason, I'm leery of starting him this early in the season, despite his #1 receiver talent. With a young QB and rookie RB, I don't have much confidence in the Lions offense. Do folks think Jerry Porter would be a better bet for the time being until Williams matures? Thanks!

Yes, Porter is a much better option for this year. I have absolutely zero confidence in Joey Harrington.

Yeah, I would probably go with Porter for now also, especially with the injurty to C. Rogers and the increased defensive attention he'll get as a result.

I think Roy will have a big year with Rogers out and Harrington has shown he likes to go to him. But you still have to go with Porter.

I appreciate the replies. It looks like Porter over williams. If I may ask a follow up: Would you then start Williams or Mushin Muhammed? It looks like I'll need to play a 3rd WR at the flex position. Thanks again!

I'd go with Mushin Muhammed this week. He's the number one against a weak KC defense.

Take Muhsin, but expect big thangs from Roy this year.

He has the opportunity with Rogers out, and he truly has playmaking abilities.

Harrington?? Well, I am still unsure about him, and I don't really know if he will ever develop into a better QB, but I think this year he may be able to correct the accuracy problems that have held him back and finally perform up to expectations.

I can't believe nobody hasn't sounded the WRONG FORUM siren already.
I have no faith in Williams having a better game then Mushie. Not because Roy isn't ready, I read one of the beat reporters telling that his circus catch didn't surprise him because he's seen him do that lots in practice. My lack of faith is that Harrington has yet to show any sense of timing and/or accuracy. That said, I have a hunch that Roy has a big game and scores his first TD Sunday.
