Make him (in)to Saints leader
Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks is coming off shoulder surgery, an injury that limited him the final four games of last season
But that's not the only concern. The team wants Brooks to become more of a leader on the field. Brooks, despite his wonderful physical abilities, sometimes seems to take a carefree attitude to his on-field mistakes.
He almost gives off a too-cool attitude when he throws an incomplete pass or an interception. There doesn't seem to be the inner hurt that some of the great passers have displayed.
That can reflect on the rest of the team, and might be a theory as to why the Saints have collapsed late in the season the past two years.
So, to possibly help rectify that problem, the Saints will be sending Brooks to a leadership seminar with the idea he will become more of a team leader in 2003. Head coach Jim Haslett is expected to attend the seminar as well.
Now, if they can only get him to show on the field that he actually does hurt when the ball goes into the stomach of an opponent
