My team...suggestions plz.

Postby Homefront Security » Thu Sep 12, 2002 8:35 pm

This is my team. When I drafted, this was supposed to be the most powerful team in the leauge, and one of the most powerful teams I'd ever seen much less drafted. But after last week's disappointing performance by my sure-thing starters I began to wonder if I made the right moves in the draft after all. Suggestions would be most appreciated. Here's my team that I drafted (it is a 10 team leauge):

QB: Kurt Warner
WR: David Boston
WR: Torry Holt
WR: Keyshawn Johnson
RB: Corey Dillon
RB: Anthony Thomas
TE: Byron Chamberlain
K: Matt Stover
DEF: Philadelphia

Bench players:

QB: Kerry Collins
WR: Rod Gardner
WR: Curtis Conway
RB: Michael Pittman
TE: Anthony Becht
DEF: Houston

I've substituted Rod Gardner for Keyshawn Johnson for week 2. I know the Skins play the Eagles, but I think that Spurriers offense will get it going again this week. Especially if the Eagles defense forces Washington to throw the ball more than they usually do to catch up (if that's even possible). And, using the same philosiphy I've substituted the Houston defense in for Philadelphia. Again, I think that Washington gains too many yards and scores too many points to make Philadelphia a good start this week. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated as far as who to start, who to drop, and what moves I should make to ensure the future of this team's season is alot brighter than last week. Warner, Dillon, Holt, and Chamberlain were ALL sure starts last week, and they combined for a total of 12 fantasy points between the four of them last week.

That's what I thought...until last weekend. That team earned me dead last place in my leauge after week one. 49 total fantasy points, in a league where 20 yards rushing/recieving=1 point, and 50 yards passing=1 point, and TD's are 6 points. Dillon got something like 25 or 30 yards rushing. Warner had a horrible day, and Holt did also. Should I trade Holt if I have Warner as a QB? That way if Warner has a bad day it doesn't trickle down to Holt as well. I don't know...I'd like to believe that I'm ok, but at least until next week I have to stare at the leauge standings with me at rock bottom. IT'S JUST NOT FAIR! In a 10 team leauge for me to draft THAT WELL and still be sitting in the cellar. Just not right...

There are two important rules to remember in fantasy football.

1. Don't ever bench a player after just one bad week.

2. Don't ever start a player after just one good week.

I know....I'm just frustrated that EVERYONE had a bad week. I know that they may turn around this week and score 25 fantasy points each, and then I'll see my team on the top of the leaderboards instead of the bottom. It's just the point that I've never had to look at a team of mine and see it in dead last. I've had teams start at 0-1 before, but not while scoring less points than EVERYONE. Especially not with a team like that. And what hurts more is that I almost dropped Pittman to pick up Travis Henry off of the waiver wire. At the time I figured it wouldn't pay off, so I didn't do it. Bummer, hey?

well said, remember that.......my opinion has nothing to do with week 1 results......Warrick has the potential to be a big time start the cin d is solid and will keep them in games and ferote is a qb who can get him and westbrook the ball, id hold on to him as a 3rd receiver...i dont have much faith in corey dillon having a good year and same with keyshawn. i had keyshawn and traded him away i dont think hes a top receiver anymore in that system and wont put up the kind of numbers people expect

You should be fine. If however you are dying to make a move I would try and upgrade at RB. Package something like A-Train and Keyshawn for Ricky Williams if you can. A starting RB and a maybe starting maybe sitting WR should fetch you a 2nd tier RB. See what is out there.
