Holmes doubtful in week 3

Postby Tavish » Mon Sep 20, 2004 4:40 pm

Press conference just held in KC where Vermeil says Holmes is doubtful/questionable for next week with an ankle sprain and sore knee. Basically said he had no idea if Holmes would heal in time to play, but the injury wasn't serious enough to make Holmes miss any extended time.

I'll keep an eye out for links.

fantastic....and my third back is on a bye week.

on a second thought....are the Chiefs going to risk going down 0-3? I think not, I bet he plays even if hurt.

Blaylock is a solid backup. Grap him off the wire.

The press conference ended about 20 minutes ago, so the press clippings should start hitting the wire in the next hour or so. Again, it wasn't a definitive "He's not playing", only statement that he is hurt and his playing status was completely dependant on how well it heals this week. Most likely Holmes will end up being one of the dreaded gametime decisions. Vermeil said practice time wasn't a concern, if Holmes was healthy enough to play Sunday, then he would play no matter if he missed the entire week of practice.

His backup is Blaylock, if things don't look good for Holmes he could make a decent start against the Texans.

Johnson is third string. Kinda a waste of a 1st round pick.
