On the other hand it was too good an opportunity with runners at second and third...
yeah...but here's my question...don't the players know which bats are theirs? there is so much time between leaving the dugout, the ondeck circle, and getting ready at the plate that one would notice "Hey this is the wrong bat?" I can't really buy into this excuse....sorry.
He said that he uses the bat to "put on a show" for the fans who watch him in practice. He still should have known which bat he was useing when he went to the plate. This is assumeing he's telling the truth, and didn't know he had the corked bat with him.
T.S. - "You don't have to love me, but you will RESPECT me"
I'm not much of a fan of Sammy Sosa. He gets on my nerves. It also makes you wonder why he needs the cork when he's as HUGE as he his and w/ as much power as he has.

As Boone said...he's one of the strongest guys around...in BP shouldn't it be enough to know exactly what pitch is coming?
shaving an ounce of weight off your bat doesn't outweigh the possible damage to your public appeal, and further entrench Baseball as a 3rd rate professional sport.
Thanks a lot Sammy.

Only 3 leagues this year. No sense in rooting for everyone in the NFL.
it will only be third rate if the league doesn't take the right action against him...if they let this transgression go with another of their weak ass 10 game suspensions baseball will lose it's luster just like after the strike
it's not just Sammy that will be questioned from here on out but guys like LuGo who also suddenly became big time power hitters
what most astonishes me is seeing quotes from Cubs fans who actually believe his crooked ass excuse that has now changed 2x already.
Geez, lets assume for a split second that he did have an ultra expensive bat made for practice to "impress the fans" well then why cork ? its common knowledge you just have more weight at the top of the bat to increase its speed, you dont need cork then, but with cork your bat will pass an inspection by an official and you could sneak it into games.
This is a blatant and ridiculous LIE, he was cheating, is a cheater.
End of story, end of glory.
