Is Roy Williams just a pretender?

Yea Boss Bailey was a second round pick by the way.

For a terrible team to draft offense 3 years in a row I saw it as stupid. I think the Lions are getting a free pass here because of Rogers injury. What numbers do you expect from a top 5 wideout throught his career? Now how in the hell do the Lions plan on getting the most out of those 2 receivers? I just dont see enough balls out there to justify drafting two wideouts that early.

Now what would I have done? Trade down. Unless, like I said, the lions had ranked roy 1 or 2 overall on the board.

So is Roy Williams's trade value very high right now, or will it get higher over the coarse of the season.

You are absolutely right about Boss - I keep forgetting he slid all the way till the 2nd rd for us.

I love how a Bears fan is second guessing the moves the Lions have made. You can improve a team a number of different ways - drafting rookies is one of them. Another is getting players through free agency. Our defensive adjustments have been made via free agency for the most part - therefore we dont have as much of a need to draft rookies on D - then again, you can also say we got a top 3 LB each of the last 2 yrs - both as early 2nd rd picks that fell to us after being projected as 1st rd picks. I really dont mean to continue this argument any more - I just cant get over someone calling the Lions last 2 drafts "stupid" after they arguably had the best draft of any team each yr:

If you have culpepper are you gonna draft a QB in the first round? The year before they draft thier "franchise" wide out, then you go draft another one? Just doesnt add up to me.

But your right this argument obviously isnt going anywhere.

Two good WRs is a very valuable asset to any team. And having two spectacular WRs (Williams and Rogers) is fantastic. The team doesn't care about the numbers they put up, they care that having both of these WRs on the same team will cause nightmares for opposing defences in the future and will help to win them games. Teams don't draft players for stats, they draft them to help the team win.

Williams is dripping with talent. After watching him play the first week against Minnesota I couldn't believe how strong he looked. Not only does he have great hands but defenders need to gang tackle him to get him down. He will post great numbers some day, it's just a question of how soon.

I haven't seen a rookie WR that impressive since Randy Moss.

Roy is definately the real deal.
However, I'm still thinking Harrington has shown us about as much as most email "male enhancement" come-ons. Completely unproven, overpriced, and in the end, ultimately something that will always be a dissapointment.
Maybe time will prove me wrong, but I've been down on Harrington since before he was drafted.
That being said, Roy will have a decent year (1,000, 5 TDs). However, I think Tai Streets may be somewhat of a sleeper here. Definately, not the equal talent level, but probably a more reliable and savvy guy, who may well prove to be more consistent than Roy for the year.

Totally agree, but it I think you are referring to the Chicago game, not Minnesota.

So does Harrington have to improve for Roy to become a "superstar" you can say, in the NFL.
