Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa has been suspended eight games for using a corked bat against the Devil Rays. "It appears that Sosa's use of an illegal bat last Tuesday was an isolated incident," MLB vice president Bob Watson said. Because Sosa appealed immediately, he will play when the Cubs host the Yankees in Friday's lone day game.

In line with past penalties. Of course, with the appeal, I suspect the suspension to be reduced to around 5 games. The league is already apologetic for having troubled Sosa with their inability to monitor players bats to make sure that they can not mistakenly use their corked ones in real at-bats.....????????
