"Experts" rant/I need a job....

Postby Poobah » Sat Jun 07, 2003 11:31 pm

Okay, I was at a chain bookstore today, and saw the first fantasy football magazine out (Fantasy Sports), and since I buy one every year, more for what some of the league owners will be reading, I brought it home.

I need a job, a full-time one, working in fantasy football. Then I could be an "expert", get into these magazines, and have people shake their heads at my mock drafts. One of the mock drafts has an "expert" with the following RB roster (14-team, combination scoring):

Jerome Bettis
Michael Pittman (yes I know this was done before his domestic issues, but do you want a #2 RB who ran for 1 TD last year?)
Correll Buckhalter
Shawn Bryson
Onterrio Smith
Willis McGahee

Okay, he has Harrison and Owens, but is it worth it?

Have to start 2 RB and 2 WR and one "flex" and his choices are Ashley Lelie, Antonio Bryant, and the above guys?

McNair and Kitna at QB, Shockey at TE, Wilkins and Seattle D? Decent, but not worth sabotaging the one position all of us commoners tell people asking advice to focus on. Are we all missing something?

Breathe, Poobah, breathe...

Im amazed at some of these so called pro's in fantasy football. There is more talent at these forums than almost anywhere around the web. We'll be huge one day, you wait and see.

He at least has a lot of sleepers at RB, but I prefer to draft solid players rather than sleepers and most of the time someone will draft a sleeper like McGahee way too early, thus leaving some veteran WR or great TE around who'll just wait to be drafted by someone else!

hey poobah, ive been here just a few days now and i'd much rather hear you talk than 90% of those so-called experts.keep up the good work.
i wish i could add to all this wonderful knowledge here but last year was my first year with a fantasy team.so i'm basically a rookie and trying to soak up all y'alls knowledge.
But even with my "rookie" status that is an awful team.i dont see how anyone could ignore the rb possition and be successful in ff.
