Pass On Peyton!

Postby ScreamingWeasel » Thu Jun 12, 2003 7:12 pm

Peyton Manning (and the Colts) are on a long down-hill slide, and you're crazy if you waste a high draft pick on him.

There it is.
My reasoning?
Manning is a manic perfectionist that does well given the right mix - and the current "mix" at Indy just ain't right.
This team is now coached by Tony Dungy who, like Jeff Fisher over at the Titans, seems to be happy with "just don't screw up".
There is no 2nd receiver threat on this team.
The "O" line has major problems.
There is no bonafide receiving TE.
The Edge is a car wreck.
And NONE of these situations have been remotely addressed in the off-season.
PASS on Peyton this year.

Another thread got me thinking about this.
I'm sure a bazillion guys will disagree.
Feel free to discuss ... and disagree

lookout weezy!! i think i hear the stampede of Colt fans on the board!!!!!

oh...waitaminute...i don't think we have any....hehehe

i dont think he'll be that bad. edge will return which should open up the passing game...and wayne came along well last season and should be a good compliment to harrison. the two te set will return and pollard will start scoring like he used to do...all in all, i don't think they'll be all that bad...

I like the perfectionist role...he has done well so far and will continue to do so...I mean, who wants a QB in the huddle that doesn't want to perfect his offense.

Scenario:WR blows his route and misses what should have been an easy completion.

QB-A-"Oh that's OK,we'll get'em next time..."
QB-B-"You Idiot! You knew that damned play and yet you weren't there to make the easy grab, you'd better step it up 'cause this is my show and you're making me look bad..."

Gimme QB-B inna heartbeat.

I think that Manning will ahve a career year this season because of the fact that I believe that Wayne will emerge asa solid receiver and the Edge is back.

you forget they drafted a great receiving TE in Dallas Clark..

check your history...Manning is FAR MORE dangerous with twin TEs that are both legit receiving targets...

I dont see last years numbers from him this yr, but I wouldnt mind having him as my starting QB...then again I dont usually draft a QB until he has gone. :-)

PS he'd have even better numbers if it wasnt for the picks !

Im sure it was my thread. So I will disagree, discuss, and move on.

you forget they drafted a great receiving TE in Dallas Clark,Nero is correct by noting this.Marcus pollard isnt too shabby either.Brandon Stokely will also get alot of footballs thrown his way.I would think that last year would have been an off year by using your formula.Instead he was the 7th overall PLAYER in my FFL.So there you have it.I disagreed, discussed and now you can feel free to counter my disagreeme.nt
