do you have a link to substantiate?

It's just a guess. But I've watched a couple raiders games this year and collins looked drastically sharper. I don't see how Turner could turn around and bench him after the performance he had. But stranger things have happened.

he looked ok, but is it enough to kick Gannon to the bench? Norm is pretty loyal to his QB's, and if Gannon is not sidelined with injury, I can't see Normmie knee jerking a move to start Collins. Besides maybe Gannon would've looked good last nite too.

My guess is Norv gives Gannon an extra week to recover whether he wants it or not. And if Collins does well again, the job is his to lose. At the very least, I'd pick up collins as an insurance policy if I had Gannon on my roster.

I remember Norv as being a rather weak coach, who would bow to public sentiment. I've tried to block his tenure as a Skin's coach out, so I could be wrong here :)

My bet is that collins plays as long as he wins...

The old theory of "you don't lose your job to injury" is long gone, and only injured players still believe it.

Just read the following from Rotoworld:

Rich Gannon has a fractured vertabrae in his neck and will miss "an extended period of time"
Coach Norv Turner said it could be anywhere from six weeks to the rest of the season. Kerry Collins will take over at quarterback. Sep. 27 - 3:20 pm et
