How about this... This was my 2/3 of my lineup going into Sunday:

L. Coles - 4 points
J. Smith - 5 points
Q. Griffin - 2 points
R. McMichael - 5 points
D. Rhodes - 0 points
J. Feely - 6 points

And I won!

Mainly because the other 1/3 of my lineup was:

P. Manning - 34 points
E. James - 13 points
Seattle D - 21 points

My butt...I'm 1-2 in a Yahoo public league and this is my team.

QB - Pennington, Carr
RB - A. Green, Barlow, Q. Griffin, T. Barber, S. Jackson...one more I can't remember
WR - C. Johnson, L. Coles, Wayne, Porter
TE - Tony Gonzalez
K - Wilkins
DEF - Tennessee

Not enough TD's, RB's are too inconsistent, defense is scoring nothing. Those are the key positions in winning a Yahoo league. Had I known the 20 yards/point scoring, I would have catered my team to these strengths.

This furthers my hypothesis that FF is at least 50% luck. My fiance lost because Rod Gardner pulled a monster game out of his ass. Was she unlucky or bad at fantasy football? Was everyone here that drafted McNair and have lost games because of it unlucky or bad at fantasy football? All those people that drafted Steve Smitth, Stephen Davis or Deuce McAllister that have lost because of injuries, unlucky or bad at fantasy football?

I'm currently 3-0 (ranked 2nd) in a 10 team league but am fifth in total points. There are two 1-2 teams that actually have more points than me. Have I been good or just lucky?

For every hunch we may have that paid off we also have one that didn't. For me it was Thomas Jones. ;-D and Terrell Owens. :-t , One thing I don't do is go around saying I'm a genius because I thought Jones was going to have a good year.

I guess it's just human nature to credit skill when your team is doing well and bad luck when it's not.

Don't get me wrong, doing research and having a knack for the game most definitely helps your chances, but when you're in a competitive league like I am where everybody does their homework, if you come out on top at the end of the year, luck has a huge hand in it.
