He should be able to shred the Bengals defense come Sunday at home. I can't wait.

Ward vs Harrison...

Postby fantasy messenger » Wed Sep 29, 2004 3:13 am

Harrison. Harrison. I love Hines Ward but Harrison is the choice. Unless there is something wrong about Harrison that I don't know about you gotta go with Harrison for the remainder of the season, one of the top 3 WRs in the league in recent years.

Hey, listen to this: Manning ain't stupid. He will find Marvin plenty this year. If you play in a league where Marvelous Marvin is being devalued, trade for him immediately!

we got him in the 3rd round , in 1998----LAST PICK.....Denver picked Brian Greise in the second to last pick in that round.

Production (and fantasy wise) this is my order:

Moss - TD production is phenomenal and can explode at any time. Has only had one somewhat off year.

Harrison - Combo of yards, catches and TDs have put him in the Top 2 or 3 just about every year for the last 5. He's somewhat down now but not enough for me to ignore so much past performance as to lower him any further.

TO - The thing about TO is that he's inconsistent and even though his production has been excellent through the first 3 games he is relying on the long ball a bit too much for my liking. His two biggest receptions against the Lions were coin tosses with the DB. IMO that kind of reception tends to be streaky in terms of frequency. Looking at past and present I see no way he can be ahead of either Harrison or Moss.

Ward - He has been SO consistent it's scarey. One detriment is that he slid a bit at the end of last season. Otherwise, I loved the comment I read (can't remember where?) that said that you could strap a cannon ball to his leg, give him a high school QB and he's still going to get six and eighty. He has been this good for a solid three years.

Holt - He had the big year last year but right now seems to be back to more typical production. He probably went ahead of Ward in just about every draft because people assumed that he would maintain his production from last year (a fair assumption). Since he has faltered a bit right now there is no way I can rank him ahead of Hines Ward.

CJ - Gimme more time on him as well and I can see him moving up while a guy like Harrison falls down.... eventually.
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

Moss
Owens
Holt
Ward
Harrison
CJ

I've had Ward on my team for the past two years and I consistently notice the same thing, he's always undervalued. He's the type of player you can get in the 3rd round, but he's better than that. To be honest I hope people don't start to realize he's been doing this for 3 years now and is established as a top WR. I believe the reason he falls under the radar is because everyone knows how bad the Pitt. offense is and everyone is waiting for Plax to come out and become the top guy, but instead Ward quietly and consistently put his points up.

I like it.

I'm loving Ward right now as my #1 WR.

Hines is a legit #1 wideout, and he is even more valuable in leagues like mine that award points for receptions. Right now, I put him below TO and Moss, but on par with Holt and Harrison.
Vengeance is mine.
