TE situation in Ten. Any Ten. fans out there?

Postby Diablo13 » Wed Sep 29, 2004 1:40 am

Conflicting reports all over the place about the Tight End situation in Titan land with E. Kinney out....

Yahoo favors Troupe
Troupe makes a sneaky play against a forgiving Chargers defense, as he'll get most of the passes previously directed at Erron Kinney. With Kinney out nursing a sore calf, Troupe should see five catches, 50 yards, and maybe even a score.

Stats Inc. says Ten will likely go with Troupe
Troupe is expected to get the starting nod for the Titans in Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, filling in for regular starter Erron Kinney, who could miss several weeks with a second-degree tear in his right calf. The rookie tight end, a second-round pick in this year's draft, has seen limited playing time so far this season, hauling in two passes for 12 yards in one game.

KFFL just says he will be activated
TitansOnline.com reports Tennessee Titans TE Ben Troupe is expected to be activated for Week 4 after being inactive for two of the team's first three games, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

But then Rotowire says Meier will be the got to TE this weekend???
Troupe has great potential, but we don't expect him to realize it this Sunday. Shad Meier will see the majority of playing time at tight end, so don't start Troupe this weekend.

Does anybody know what the real story is....
Which guy is worth picking up if a team is in TE desperation.

Though I would wait for confirmation, I'll be shocked if Ben Troupe isn't your main target.

Rookie talent...I think they'll love to see what he can do against that SD secondary.

Could have a big game.

That's why they drafted him, isn't it? The next Wycheck.

Jeff Fisher
Ben Troupe will play and we’ll find out. He has done a nice job. We had him up in the package this week. We had a lot of things for him this week and then because of the question mark with Drew (Bennett) we wanted to make sure we had the extra receiver with Jake (Schifino) coming back. Our intention was to open it up and put the ball down the field. We felt we were better suited having Jake up rather than Ben. Ben will be up this week. He had a good week of practice and he is going to be fine.

I guess this sort-of answers my question

Would anybody risk running him in your line-up this week is (say) you were in dire need of a TE....

Thanks all!

I can see The Titans TE's this week catching 5 for 65 but I don't know who will get it. Meier has been with Titans for 3 years now and he knows all the blitz pickups etc, so I think The SD defense and it's degree of complexity will determine how much action Troupe sees ... Both of these TE's have big play ability though ...
