I thought I got a steal in grabbing McNair in the early fifth (8-team league), but now I see that he's not worth even that. McNair has done nothing all season... I'm trying to move him for Hasslebeck right now. Plus... he's hurt.
Ignore his posts Cowboysfan...
Anyway, I think this thread is mostly garbage. A bunch of people simply said "trade Vick," without any info backing their post.
Vick may be overrated, but I definitely think his ability as a playmaker and explosive games are very much worth his "bad" starts, which are usually still very acceptable for a QB.
Michael Vick is still learning the new offense. I think once it clicks he will start producing decent fantasy numbers... The real question is will it click this year for him or next year?
I would only trade him if it was a super deal... If you can get someone to offer up a tier 1 player for him then go for it. I think his true potential may surface next year.
What does the rest of your team look like? If it's strong enough to cushion a lukewarm vick performance you may want to keep him. When he brings his A game he may be the x factor that pushes you over for that close call.
If you want to play it safe and consistent go with Vinnie, you may not get explosive points but you should be free from -8's.
But Vinnie only has 8 more total points than Vick in my league this year so far.
Here is my lineup currently for week 5....
M.Vick
H.Ward
A.Toomer
C.Wilson/SF
C.Brown/Ten
S.Alexander/Sea
S.Meier/TE/Ten
R.Caldwell/WR/SD
D.Foster/RB/Car
M.Pttman/Bench
V.Testicle/QB/Dal
B.Roethlisberger/QB/Pit
J.Carney/K/NO
D.Akers/K/Phi/Bye
Az - D This week...
Miami - D
NYG - D
Week 3, Vick got me -9 for INT, 6 Sacks, 2 Fumbles, and 2 Fumbles lost...along with 115 rec yards and 68 rushing.
Look at Vick over his career, he puts up solid numbers.
Maybe he's running less, but you'd hope his throwing TDs will go up. Overrated as a first round pick, no doubt. But if you look at 2002, he was a top fantasy QB. 2003 when he played, same deal. I think you'd have to wait until week 7-8 to start making any major judgements.
Lots of people are dumping Mcnair, after 3 games. Unless you're losing early, you need to look long term. I always trade for pro bowlers when they get off to slow starts. Because when the playoffs start, it's nice to have a bunch full of "overrated" probowlers.
Here's a few examples that will probably end up being steals.
Henry
McNair
S. Moss
D Davis
F Taylor
Anyone in the bottom half of your league, is probably very down on those guys. You offer some instant production guys and in 5-6 weeks you might be sitting pretty. When players have a "down" year, it's usually not the whole year. It's usually a slow start, or slow finish. Hopefully you grab them after a slow start and when the playoffs come you have options out the yahoo.
