How do I get rid of spyware?

Postby Melo255 » Wed Sep 29, 2004 2:00 pm

I'm virtually certain that's what has been fu*kin up my computer the past few months but I have no idea how to get rid of it. I'm pretty much a computer idiot so complex things are out. Anybody know of any sort of one stop shop to get rid of it? Any help at all is really appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Running both ad-aware and spybot (search google or download.com) will get rid of a big portion of it.

Though lately I've gotten alot of crap that those two can't seem to get rid of, and it's pissing me off.

Try downloading the Yahoo! Toolbar:

http://toolbar.yahoo.com/

There's a spy-ware button on the bar and you just click it and it runs a scan an removes the spy-ware. It worked for me a little while back.

The best way to get rid of spyware is to hire a good wizard, because those little bastards are hard to get rid of.

Ad-Aware, Spybot-Search and Destroy, and SpySweeper. Excellent products all! I use all three, as each will find spy/adware that the others won't. And, keep those definitions up to date. Of course you need a good antivirus program too. Should take care of most problems. Good Luck.

I have Norton Anti-Virus. It seems to be keeping my computer protected. ;-D

Not nearly enough to combat ad/spyware. If you haven't used any adware/spyware sweepers before, you'll be stunned by what shows up when you scan. 8-o

I use Adaware for standard scans and Hijackthis to scrape off anything obvious that doesn't go away with Adaware.
