DEF by Matchup. Worth Trying????

Postby lsufan » Thu Sep 30, 2004 9:42 am

I have Miami and have thought about playing def by matchup but i feel like somebody will pick up miami if I drop them. Some of the senior guys on this site have said they play the def that plays against arizona or miami every week. Does that mean you drop and pick up a def every week or do you keep a stud def like miami but pick up a matchup def each week if the matchup is good enough?

I am in a position where I do not have an expendable player to drop so if im going to do this Miami will be who gets droped.

Should I stick with Miami or try playing matchups?

I'd play some matchups if I had Miami, who are not the dominant defense they once were. Baltimore would be a D to ride every week, regardless of matchups.

If you'd like to hold onto Miami and pick up a D with a favorable matchup when Miami's opponent isn't favorable (like this week with the Jets, who look like they'll hang about 50 on the miserable, hapless 'Phins), I'd suggest dropping Witten and riding D-Cracker as your starting TE for the season.

I always play the matchups and have yet to score under double digits this year on defense...

This week, I'm liking:

Oakland
New York Jets
Denver
Washington

Im sorry, I forgot to post my sporting news team. The team below is my Yahoo league. This is the team that i play miami:

QB: M. Bulger, J. Delhomme
RB: A. Green, K. Barlow, B. Westbrook, K. Jones, T. Weatley
WR: C. Johnson, J. Smith, M. Clayton, M. Muhammad, R. Caldwell
TE: B. Williams, J. Witten
K: J. Carney
DEF: Miami

I know that I have weak WR's. I had s. smith until his injury. Most teams do not need two TEs or two QBs but witten is on bye this week and im not confident in bulger. If i am going to do this Miami would be the one who got droped. Maybe Boo.

I would drop Caldwell and Boo and pick up a D and a decent TE for this week, then next week I would drop the other TE and pick up the sleeper candidate of the week at WR...

i'm in the same exact situation.

I don't really want to drop Miami, but i don't trust them with that horrible offense.
I'm going to drop either A.Gates, Caldwel, or Miami D, and pick up Denver D.

Thanks Plindsey88, that sounds like a really good plan. I may actually do that this week.

Think new orleans would be a good play this week?
