Del Rio has noticed wide receiver Jimmy Smith's weight gain this offseason, but expresses little concern about it.
Smith, 34, enjoyed his most productive NFL seasons in the late 1990s at between 205 and 208 pounds. Smith has bulked up considerably this spring and is listed at 213 pounds, although he appeared even heavier than that in practice this week.
Smith is coming off a 2002 season that saw his production slump and ended with him missing the Pro Bowl for the first time in five years.
"He saw a little bit of a weight gain with his work in the weight room, but a lot of that will get run off in training camp," Del Rio said. "He wants to get his weight down, so I don't need to establish a weight for him. He knows where he needs to get to and will work toward that."
