I saw on Sportscenter that the NFL will fine Jake Plummer if he continues to wear the #40 sticker honoring former teammate Pat Tillman. What is that? This uniform rule is becoming shameful if one can't have a tribute for a fallen friend. What do you think of this?

I've been saying that the league's policy in such situations is wrong for quite some time. Sadly, this isn't unexpected.

I am going to spin this situation another way. I don't agree with the stance the NFL took but this didn't come out of thin air. Prior to the season they let everyone know how it was going to work. We may not like the rules but at least they were forthcoming.

Plummer knew this and wore the sticker anyway. OK he tried to buck the system and failed but he handled it in a fairly diplomatic fashion. I was hoping he'd continue to pay the fine all season and make a statement. Now it seems just a little petty to me.

The media outcry really irks me. They beat this subject (league policy, not Tillman himself) dead the week Tillman was honored. We all knew this exact situation was going to happen and now it's a non-stop outcry in the media like they never saw it coming.

This uniform policy is way too strict. I can understand not allowing Deion to have his old number on his shoes, but I think this crosses the line. This is not done to show off, but to show respect, and I think the NFL should know the difference.

I think it's just stupid... I guess I can see where they're coming from, saying that maybe other NFL players will follow the trend and put other stickers or write RIP "____" on their helmet or something, but I doubt it. I don't see the big deal really, if he wants to show his support, let him... kinda takes away from Plummer making a tribute to him now that the NFL got involved in it.

Eh...I'm not too bothered with it. The NFL has been more than forthcoming with taking the initiative to honor Tillman in every way, shape and fashion.

Yes, it's just a sticker. A small one in a relatively discreet place on the uniform. Yet, everyone knew the limitations. And now that this has turned into a violation, is it too much to just let it go, and open up a college fund for children who lose their parents in the military on active duty?
