Grogan's Fantasy Football TE rankings

Postby StickaforkinRogers » Thu Jun 26, 2003 10:46 am

I don't really use magazines as a draft strategy, I just enjoy reading them. I know a lot of their ranking suck and usually I just ignore them but I had to tell you guys about this one.

Top 5 Tight Ends

1. Gonzalez
2. Pollard
3. Shockey
4. Franks
5. Heap

Now I posted on here a while ago that I thought Pollard was going to have a much better season than last year but how the hell can you have him at 2 and Heap at 5. I honestly think some of these magazines just like to be different and post odd rankings for shock value. I mean how can somebody with a brain actually believe this.

I have to agree with you, Pollard is a decent TE but not 2nd best.

The only reason I would even consider ranking Heap that low would be b/c of QB situation, but looking at the guys in front of him I still couldnt put him that low. Pollard is good, but with Edge, Harrison around he won't be # 2.

I would even argue that Shockey is number one, and you're right, Heap is much better than most other tight ends, but I don't think he will have a QB that will get him the ball.

I would rank the top five as such:

1. Shockey
2. Gonzalez
3. Heap
4. Franks
5. (too tough to call)

McMichael could fill in that #5 slot this year.

He'll do well as usual...prolly #6 or 7 on my list. Just expect him to miss a few games due to injury.

Shockey is #1. I don't think Gonzalez is far off, though last season scares me a bit.

About Heap; the qb situation may be shaky, but the TE can be a nice security for a struggling or inexperienced qb. I think Heap is seriously underrated in that list.
