Still no contract for Holt...
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the Rams still have not reached an agreement on a new deal for wide receiver Torry Holt. The two sides have been attempting to get a deal in place this offseason because Holt is entering the final year of his original five-year contract. There has been no progress made since May, according to the paper, but Holt's agent Greg Williams is optimistic. "We're hopeful that we can get something worked out for him pretty soon,'' Williams said Thursday. "I feel pretty confident that we can. It's just a matter of getting it done." The Rams are reportedly offering a contract much like Isaac Bruce's seven-year, $42.1-million contract, but Holt is seeking more.
Holt reported to minicamp despite the lack of a new deal and there is no talk of him holding out of training camp. They've been confident of getting something done all offseason, so they probably will just before camp starts when there's more of a sense of urgency. It would be nice to get this out of the way before workouts begin so Torry's focus can stay on football.
