Any word on Wheatley??

Postby petedog9 » Tue Oct 05, 2004 6:10 pm

Is he playing this week or is Amos the guy???? I have priest on the bye and need a fill in if S. Davis isnt playing either. I am looking at Amos or Moore as a spot fill in as a backup plan...

Wheatley is a career backup. Amos is the starter

I would really prefer a little better source. Since Wheatley has been the starter so far this year. I understand your opinion on him but I am looking for a REAL response to my question.

Nothing definitive quite yet...

Fanball.com wrote:THE NEWS

Raiders starting running back Tyrone Wheatley underwent an MRI on his injured shoulder on Monday and his status for Sunday's game at Indianapolis is uncertain. Amos Zereoue stepped up in his place last Sunday, but coach Norv Turner suggested that it wouldn't necessarily be Amos against the Colts if Wheatley cannot play. "I am not going to comment on Tyrone until we know if he is available or not available,' Turner told the San Francisco Chronicle. "But I think Justin [Fargas] will be back ready to go and be ready to take that load and mix it.'

OUR VIEW

Very interesting. Fargas was active last week but basically couldn't go because of lingering turf toe. Turner's comments definitely indicate a pecking order behind Wheatley, however. Zereoue is more of a third-down back than he is the power rusher Turner seeks in his backfield. A favorable MRI for Wheatley would make this point moot, but this should at the very least temper those fantasy owners expecting big things from Amos if Wheatley sits.

not to be rude, but that was the answer you wanted? did it tell you anything new? are you going to use that to make a decision?

it's in limbo still.

It IS the answer I was looking for. I wanted a credible source on the injury situation. Not somebodys editorial on what he thinks of Wheatley with no facts what so ever. Telling me that Wheatley is a career backup doe NOT tell me his health status and the possibiliity of him playing this weekend. If there is no verdict on his health this week yet, thats ok. Its early in the week. I was after the official word, either way. Its early and as the test results come back I am sure someone will update it. What I didnt want is somebodys editorial on a player.
