Bruce/Holt...

I know Bulger has chosen Bruce as his primary target and I'm a little paranoid since I just got Holt in a trade.

Do you guys think Holt will end up being the guy again this year soon enough and put up the #'s he did last year (or near them) or do you think that Bruce will continue to take away looks?

It kind of seems like a silly question, but anyone have any thoughts?

I was sort of thinking that the reason Holt isn't being targeted is because he's either a) being blanketed by coverage or b) is hurt more than he or the Rams are letting on. There has to be a reason why he's not open or being looked to more because Bulger threw to him just fine last year to the tune of 1600+ yards. Why would this year be any different if there wasn't something wrong with him or if he's getting tighter coverage?

If defenses are willing to leave Bruce open to cover Holt, then Bruce is going to have a monster year. It's the same type of scenario with Harrison/Wayne (I hope since I have Reggie).

I'm slowly starting to change my opinins about Holt. At first I believed he was the man, Bulger loved throwing to Torry, and a shift of Holt to the primary receiving threat took place.

But, this year Bulger has shown a lot of poise. I think he has matured, and he is learning to deliver the ball in the right places. I think when Holt is being blanketed Bulger has learned not to force the ball to him.

Time will tell whether I am right, but its lookin like Bulger isn't going to favor Holt as much as he has in the past.

I agree with most of what Iron Chef said. However, if Bruce keeps torching defenses, teams will have to re-think how they play these two. Since Holt is younger, faster, and a better red zone target, I think he will still end up with superior numbers. IMO, Holt is an excellent "buy low" option right now, especially coming off that lackluster game against SF.

There was a reason Bulger had a 1:1 TD to INT ratio last year.... And that's because he just kept putting the ball up for Holt time and time again... Which led to great numbers for Holt, but a lot of picks, too... Clearly he has worked on that, and is now able to throw away from the double teams, which are 95% of the time on Torry.... And throw TO Bruce in one-on-one coverage on the other side of the field...

Add to that the fact that the offensive line is not as good this year, which means he does not have as much time to set up the deep balls to Torry, and is having to constantly dump off to the underneath guy, which is almost always Isaac... Look at the stats... How many of Bruce's 100 yards every game come from the deep ball? I'd be willing to bet virtually none of them...

from what i remember Holt started last season cold and was INSANELY good in the second half of the season.

I knew one thing to be consistent last season

Warner=holt

Bulger=Bruce(targets him more), end of last season teams knew this and leaned more towards bruces side, leaving holt open for more plays

Attempts wise Bruce and Bulger are pals...unfortunately for bruce owners....HOLT IS CLUTCH...and when bulger wants a TD he goes to Holt...

I know becuz i was offered HOLT and i didnt want to give up moulds becuz of moulds hot start...man i am still regreting that rejected offer.....we all know how poor Moulds was with his groin problem
