Is Seattle's D for real?

Postby chowtime » Fri Oct 08, 2004 12:33 am

Throwing this out partially because I am stuck with either playing Bulger or Vick this week.

I know their defense is good, but they've played New Orleans (wk 1), Tampa (really strong offensively - yeah right), and San Francisco (comparable to Tampa offensively if Rattay played the whole game).

Let me know thoughts - I think their D is good, but not a true #1. This discussion may help me decide who to play.

I believe the Seahawks Defense is pretty damn good, but not #1 like they are currently ranked. I think they are going above and beyond their potential right now for sure, but don't discount what Ray Rhodes can do to a D.

However, in response to this, I don't believe the Rams are going to do much to change that because the Seahawks will be too tough at home and coming off a bye week. I don't honestly see the Rams scoring more than 10 or 13 points which might mean about 240 yards and a TD for Bulger on the high end, with the low end around 200/0.

I was just fixing to post this same question. I see several fantasy projections where they are a top 5 defense the rest of the year. Are they really that good. I have Dallas and picked up the Jets for last week and this week, but now I'm considering Seattle. What does everybody think of their defense

I have Seattle Def in both of my leagues. They won't finish the year as the #1 Def, but top 10 they will. I would pick them up if i were you.

I think their value is slightly inflated, but they are definitely top 5-8, and still on their schedule, yet to play:

Arizona (twice)
SF (again)
Carolina (at home)
Miami (at home)
Buffalo (at home)
Dallas (at home)

That's 7 more good matchups coming their way...

Ah, come on. Dallas' offense is way better than all those other teams except maybe Carolina.

no question, seattle's defense has been stud-like so far, but I think there are better options out there this week. Most leagues heavily award low points against totals, and it's realistic to assume that St Louis is good for at least two scores. I reserved Seattle and picked up the 'Zona Def off the WW, who is matched up nicely against a lowly 9er offense.

I was lucky to pick up Atlanta's defense in week 2 or so and like their matchups. I gotta say that Seattle is good but they really haven't played anyone, seeing how New Orleans is becoming. Does anyone think that St. Louis will have a better time against Seattle than they did Atlanta?
