Eric Johnson out?

Postby cooleyhigh » Sat Oct 09, 2004 4:21 pm

RT sports has listed Johnson as out for week 5. However I have been unable to find confirmation of this on espn or nfl.com.

Anybody else seen concrete news?

Oct 8 49ers' tight end Eric Johnson is expected to play on Sunday after an MRI exam revealed no significant damage to his injured ribs. The injury has been diagnosed as a bruise, and Niners' head coach Dennis Erickson is leaving it up to Johnson to determine whether he can play on Sunday against the Cardinals. "I'd be surprised if he didn't play, but we'll see how the pain is," Erickson told the Mercury News.

Views: Johnson leads the Niners with 28 receptions for 298 yards and has been a pleasant surprise to his fantasy owners. If Johnson can't play on Sunday, Aaron Walker would replace him in the starting lineup.

Any 9ers fans got a scoop as to how he is shaping up in practice?

I would like to know how much he'll be used if he played through the injury.

I don't intend this to be a trade question, but would you guys consider Eric Johnson to be droppable material? I'm having a hard time finding someone to drop.

No way I would drop him. I would rather start no TE for a week than put him on waivers.

I wonder if that's an error in the SFGate.com report. They are quoting the NFL injury report but the updated injury report on NFL.com and 49ers.com still show E.J. as questionable not out.

i think hes expected to play....

bruised ribs, no other damage, no serious damage, read quote of erickson sayin he would be very surprised if eric didnt play. and that he would leave it up to eric to decide.
