I have seattle D and Brady? SHoudl I pick up another D??
QB: Brady , Testeverde, Rattay
RB: S. Alexander, D. Davis , R. Johnson
L. Suggs,
WR: S. Moss, D. Jackson, J. Walker
, Rod Smith, R. Gardner, Kev. Johnson
Te: J. Witten
K: Freely
Def: Seattle
What's the difference? You think Seattle D will suddenly play differently know that they know they are playing your QB?
"Guys, we have to change our whole gameplan now because stinkfingeredbeef has Tom Brady on his fantasy team...let's just fall down and allow Brady to score mondo touchdowns!"
NO , i mean, it seems like if one does good, the other will suffer so logic would say to pick the better of the 2 and start someone else in the remaining position. Is that stupid?
I mean if brady lights up, then my D will have nothing except turnovers.
What about Rattay or Test? Does Rattay have better odds against NYJ than Brady against Seattle?
QB: Brady , Testeverde, Rattay
RB: S. Alexander, D. Davis , R. Johnson
L. Suggs,
WR: S. Moss, D. Jackson, J. Walker

I think your quickly moving into "wrong forum" territory here... but to keep it generic...
In the past, I've ignored the cross matchups between my players, and just chose the best options.
In general, a top team & a top QB will overcome a solid D. The only stud D's that could change this are probably Balt/New England. But even Brunell was able to throw a td against Balt.
If you have a stud QB, you'd have to go with him. For 2nd tier guys like Brady/Brooks/Favre, you're probably not going to have too many better options unless you're in a small league anyway.
DEF is pretty much the only "position" in FF that I have success with going against the match ups. If you're uncomfortable going up against say a Vikings or Colts team with your top D, go to the ww and see who's playing Miami/TB/San Fran etc.
Ok thanks...Im checking the WW now, I've had good luck with match-ups too. But as far as wrong forum, Im just pointing out the strategy behind starting a QB against D, it doesnt seem like there is any possible outcome that both could have a strong performance, is there??
There are ways that both could have big days... Your QB could put up 350 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 int, while your D has 1 int, 4 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, a defensive TD, and allows 21 points.... In my scoring, that would be:
QB: 25 points
D: 18 points
Both respectable scores...
BUT, for this week, I think you can do a lot better than Seattle...
