Who is NE starting TE?

Postby Cornbread Maxwell » Mon Jul 14, 2003 3:50 pm

I have been seeing a lot of people rank Fauria as a top 10 TE, but I doubt he will even be NEs starting TE. I have been reading that Graham will take over the job before the season starts.

Any news, insight into this situation?

Can I start smirking every time Fauria's name is called?

Fauria is currently the starting TE in NE but I have also heard that the Pats want to be Graham alot more involved in the O. I would say Fauria is a Top 10 TE even if Graham wasnt there.

Fauria caught only 27 passes last yr, yet he scored 7 TDs. The chances of him repaeting those type of numbers is slim to none. He caught more than 2 passes only 3 times last yr. You cant possibly think this guy is top 10 TE.

Sorta looks like Bubba Franks numbers. The difference is...Franks is Favre's main man in the redzone; Fauria doesn't seem like Brady's.

I would wait until after training camp and then look at their depth chart.

Fauria.....

Postby massraider » Mon Jul 14, 2003 8:15 pm

Fauria happened to get a lot of catches in the red zone last year. But look at the Pats: They have a million guys who get catches. Graham got drafted in the first round, they like him. His numbers will only increase. Any TE I draft better be a definite number 1. Let somebody else take him....

I'm a huge Pats fan.

Fauria was the main man last year, and that was not by design. They wanted Graham to be the man, or at least play a bigger role, but he just didn't cut it. He had too many drops or bad plays that he played himself to the backup role.

The Patriots still have high hopes for him. They think he will be a much improved player, and I see him having a much bigger role in the Patriots offense this year.

Even with that being said, I still don't think either Graham or Fauria as a top 10 TE even if one does start full time. The Patriots under Belicheck the past few years have been at the bottom of the league in utilizing their tight end position.

Fauria's an average TE. I would not take him unless you wanted a bench Tight End.
