Reuben Droughns: Likely to Start for Broncos

Update: Although head coach Mike Shanahan hasn't named a starter for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Droughns will likely get the nod but Quentin Griffin will see some carries, The Sports Xchange reports.
Recommendation: With the Broncos having the late afternoon game, Shanahan should have fantasy owners going crazy over this decision especially if your lineups need to be set before the first set of games. However, if you own Droughns and Griffin, go with the former. The Raiders are suspect against power running backs having surrendered 241 yards and two touchdown in Weeks 3-4 against Jonathan Wells of the Texans and Edgerrin James of the Colts.
This does not at all mean he will start. There have been like 5 threads on this and its all speculation. Theres also speculation that he wont start b/c they will take a downgrade at FB and on special teams.
They also say that Griffin is 100%. If they didnt want to start him wouldnt they say he's 80 or 90%?
I can theorize all day what anything means, but until you see what Shanny actually does, all these reports are worthless

I don't think it makes a difference who starts. I think Droughnuts and Q-Tip will both see carries, and Shanny will go with the more effective back. That is what he did last year when Portis was hurt against the Colts. He started Anderson but gave Griffin several carries. Once it became clear that Griffin was the more effective back, Shanny stuck with him.
If there's one thing you can bet on it's that Mike Shanahan (and Mike Tice) says one thing and sometimes does the other. I think you're better off flipping a coin to figure out what they are going to do ahead of time. What compounds the problem this week is that Denver is a late game, and if you wait until then to decide you may get the shaft.
My advice to people with Griffin or Droughns is that if you don't have anyone better to start and it looks like you're the underdog in your fantasy matchup, put them in and hope they go off. If you have a guy who will surely get a decent amount of points and you should win, use them and be safe.
If you're in the middle of those scenarios and your other option plays at 1, I'd still play it safe and use the early guy unless it somehow leaks out during the pre-game shows that Griffin or Droughns will surely start.
