Cheating

Postby 0.5 mg » Wed Oct 20, 2004 12:22 pm

The commisioner in my league has gone into the system and changed his starters 4 different times. The deadline for changes is 5 minutes prior to gametime for each player. For instance..this past weekend he pulled Jake Delhomme at 1:45 pm and put in Vinnie testaverde whose game didn't start until 4:15pm. Jake had been on the field for 45 minutes and was stinking it up pretty good.

This is a money league consisting of mostly people that work together or are otherwise friends. Ten teams altogether including the commisioners team. I'm the new guy and don't really know many of them except the guy that introduced me to the league.

I pose to you what we as a league should do about this.

What are your thoughts?

It has to be a league consensus. My personal opinion is to boot him. What is in the mind of someone to cheat at a fantasy game. I have never seen an actual case of cheating in any league I have ever been but this one is worse than collusion. Not once but 4 times this guy has gone and changed one of his poorly performing starters (I assume) Who wants someone like this in the league. If you don't get rid of him now, it leads to the integrity of the league being questioned whenever a problem arises due to a crook running it.

Some people may argue that drawing and quartering is an outdated, cruel, etc. form of punishment. I think it is perfect for this type of infraction.

hmmm... nice post vlad ;)

burning at the stake might do the trick, other possibilities involve the ever popular impaling, the iron maiden or, my personal favorite, stoning.

I would say you need to have documented proof. Which shouldnt be hard. Printscreens work rather nicely, and can be a good safeguard in leagues against not so trustworthy opponents. It's a shame, but it happens. But 4 times is ridiculous. Hopefully someone else has the money and not the commish.

I think it's safe to say that anything less than castration would be a bad move on the league's part.
